MEXICO CITY (apro).- Sergio “Checo” Pérez made headlines this Sunday, May 26, as he suffered an accident in his car during the Monaco GP. Fortunately, the Mexican pilot was unharmed in the crash. A video of the photographers who were near the incident was leaked, one of them was injured.

During the first lap of the Monagesco circuit, “Checo”’s RB20 was contacted by the Haas car driven by Kevin Magnussen. The Mexican was unable to maintain control and crashed directly into the protective wall.

The accident was in one of the fastest areas of the track, on the climb up Massenet towards the Casino. Behind the barrier were several photographers who managed to move when they saw that the car would crash there.

According to the Formula 1 report, the injured photographer was taken to the hospital, where he was discharged the same day after the incident. Although “Checo” Pérez emerged unharmed from the incident, he no longer continued the race, as his car was destroyed.
