This Wednesday, the Government announced that gas supply will be restored throughout the national territory after resolving a series of technical and administrative problems that had affected the transportation and unloading of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The federal administration assured that it took measures to guarantee supply to priority sectors, such as businesses, schools, hospitals and homes, in response to “two independent and simultaneous events.” These problems included exceptional weather conditions in May, which increased gas consumption, and delays in infrastructure works scheduled by the previous administration.

The first incident was a technical problem in two compressor plants in San Luis and Córdoba, operated by Transportadora Gas del Norte (TGN), which reduced the transportation of 3 million cubic meters per day of natural gas to the Litoral and Greater Buenos Aires. This problem was solved in the early hours of Wednesday, according to Enargas.

In addition, an administrative setback with the bank operated by Petrobras had prevented the unloading of a ship with LNG acquired by Enarsa. Thanks to the collaboration between Petrobras and Enarsa, this problem was resolved, and the ship began unloading the LNG in the early hours of Wednesday.

It is expected that throughout the day and tomorrow the supply to non-priority demand, such as industries, CNG stations and thermoelectric plants, will normalize. To guarantee supply to priority sectors, the Emergency Executive Committee worked until midnight to plan temporary interruptions of gas supply to non-priority demand.
