Moscow, May 30 (EFE).- The production of the Russian gas giant Gazprom fell almost 14% in 2023 compared to the levels of the previous year, reducing to 355,230 million cubic meters of gas, according to the rus consortium in its report. annual.

In 2022 Gazprom produced 412.6 billion cubic meters of gas and in 2021 it reached 514.8 billion cubic meters, which shows a gradual reduction in the context of the sanctions imposed on Russia for the war in Ukraine.

On the contrary, the extraction of crude oil and gas condensate increased by 6.6% and reached 72.38 million tons, a fact that Gazprom linked to “the implementation of programs to create new wells.”

In total, the production of natural gas and accompanying gas in Russia was 538.95 billion cubic meters in 2023.

“Extraction volumes and their distribution between extraction centers are defined based on the need to guarantee reliable gas supplies to Russian consumers and compliance with export commitments, taking into account requests for additional volumes received,” Gazprom said.

The Russian gas giant noted the reduction in exports to the European market due to sanctions against Russia and noted that exports to the countries of the former Soviet Union “remained at last year’s level.”

“A new milestone in the development of cooperation with the countries of Central Asia was the beginning in 2023 of supplies of Russian natural gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan,” he noted.

Furthermore, in 2023 Gazprom increased its supplies to China by 50% through the Sila Sibiri gas pipeline.EFE
