Accompanied by their families, the presidential candidates arrived around 8:00 a.m. at their corresponding polling stations in Mexico City.

Here we tell you what the candidates said when they went to vote.

Claudia Sheinbaum

The presidential candidate of the “Let’s Keep Making History” coalition went to vote this Sunday accompanied by her husband Jesús María Tarriba, at the polling station in section 3960, in Tlalpan.

Upon leaving his house, Sheinbaum told the media that this Sunday would be a “historic day.”

After standing in line and waiting for just over an hour, Sheinbaum cast her vote and declared to the media that her presidential vote was for Efigenia Martînez.

With shouts of president, president! and it is an honor to be with Claudia, today! the presidential candidate was received.

For almost an hour the flag bearer was lined up to vote and when she left she reported that she did so for the former federal representative.

“For the presidency I voted for Efigenia Martinez, you already know everything else,” he said as he left the booth.

Xochitl Galvez

Xóchitl Gálvez, candidate of the Fuerza y Corazón por México coalition, made up of the PAN, PRI and PRD, voted at the polling station on General García S/N street, Reforma Social neighborhood, El Chamizal Primary School.

The opposition presidential candidate, accompanied by her children Diana Gálvez and Juan Pablo Gálvez, pointed out that these elections were the most violent in the history of Mexico, since more than 25 candidates have been murdered.

“It was no longer a quiet day. I am very sorry that more than 25 people do not make it to this day” (…) There is talk of 25, 30, but they are not here and that is regrettable. “It is the most violent day in the history of Mexico,” he mentioned as he left his house.

From the Reforma Social neighborhood, in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office, he asked the polling station officials to “hold on” because it will be a “close” and “difficult” day. “Hang in there, it’s going to be a hard, difficult, close day. It is not a picnic for those who believed that this was a formality. There is a great participation,” declared the contender.

The candidate commented that today Mexico has the possibility of electing the first woman president and emphasized that Mexicans will choose what future they want for the coming years.

Between shouts of “president, president”, “Xóchitl, I love you” and “thank you, Xóchitl”, in addition to signs of support, the neighbors received the presidential candidate.

However, there was a neighbor who came out to yell at her “corrupt” and “inept.” “I have always been a neighbor and it was barely enough for her, because the owners of the hills gave her a hut back there, but she is wrong, because she does not know how to govern the delegation. “How is she going to want to be president?” Said this man who identified himself as Luis Perales.

Almost two hours after arriving at the polling station, the candidate was able to cast her vote.

Jorge Álvarez Máynez

The presidential candidate for the Citizen Movement, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, went to vote this Sunday, accompanied by his son, at the polling station in section 4533, in the Condesa neighborhood.

After casting his vote, Máynez showed the indelible ink on his finger shortly before 9:30 in the morning.

The candidate assured that he will respect the results of the presidential election on June 2, but denounced that the process was inequitable.

“It is an imperfect democracy that we have. We must fight for democracy to become better and better,” she said.
