MEXICO CITY (apro).- The president of the PAN in Mexico City, Andrés Atayde, said that although some polling stations opened up to an hour and a half late, his party expects a higher participation in the electoral process than that of the 2018 elections, that is, greater than 70%.

From the press room of Santiago Taboada, candidate of the PAN, PRI and PRD for the head of Government, the leader of the blue and white party said that so far the election day has developed calmly, since he has not received reports “that warrant communicate” of acts of violence or red lights in the capital.

However, the coordinator of the Taboada campaign, Federico Döring, spoke about the delay with which they opened some polling stations in the capital: “It is still a sign that the opening of many polling stations has been delayed, fortunately it has not hit the spirit of the people who have decided to vote.”

They were accompanied by Senator Emilio Álvarez Icaza, who is also part of the candidate’s campaign team and referred to the false bomb threat in box 752, located on Loma del Parque Avenue, in the Cuajimalpa mayor’s office:

“An alleged bomb threat and the people did not allow it, and nothing happened, rather those who came with the falsehood left.”

And he assured: “We have seen in some other places in the city some operational groups, that happened in Roma Sur, people who were supposedly observers, the police came to ask what they were doing there, finally they withdrew (…) they are groups that “We don’t understand what they do, they are not from the area, but we will have to be careful that they do not want to prevent the vote at some point.”

Álvarez Icaza mentioned citizen participation in the electoral process and recalled his role abroad: “In terms of installation, in general there are many people, many lines wanting to vote abroad, and here this is an important fact, because Abroad, the population that has voted the most is the Chilanga population, and that is an important and significant fact.”

On May 14, in a meeting with the National Chamber of the Processing Industry (CANACINTRA), Santiago Taboada considered that victory is assured if the number of voters exceeds more than 70% participation.
