The coffee brand donated more than 90 thousand liters of 100% natural biofertilizer, which will be used for restoration projects and urban trees.
Driven by the shared purpose of promoting sustainability and environmental preservation in Chile, Nespresso and Fundación Reforestemos announce the renewal of their alliance, which began in 2023, with the donation of compost for the planting of native trees in affected areas for the fires that occurred during that year.
For this 2024, the brand’s donation is more than 90 thousand liters of Biofert, a 100% natural biofertilizer, whose manufacture comes from the recovery and composting of different organic waste, among which is coffee from recycled Nespresso capsules. . This resource will be allocated to urban tree projects in Maipú, Viña del Mar, Quilpué and Villa Alemana, ecological restoration in Pantanillos (Constitución), and the NGO’s Small Owners Program, protecting biodiversity, combating climate change and promoting The sustainability.

Nespresso capsule recycling program in Chile
At the local level, the brand collects its already used capsules, and Armony Sustentable – a company specialized in the transport and treatment of organic waste – is in charge of taking them to its composting plant, where the aluminum is separated from the coffee. The latter is transformed into compost for various uses and the aluminum is crushed and then recycled with an authorized manager.
Consumers have two options to return their used capsules. On the one hand, you can take them to any of the brand’s stores located in the Metropolitan Region (Mall Costanera Center; Mall Alto Las Condes; Falabella Mall Parque Arauco and Pop Up in Mall Portal La Dehesa), V region (Ripley Mall Marina) and VIII region (Ripley Mall Plaza Trébol). Or they can also request the free home pickup service when placing an order on the Nespresso website, available in RM, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XIV and XVI region.
Through both options, the brand seeks to facilitate the recycling of its capsules to increase the collection rate in Chile.
