Candidates for governor in Guanajuato
In the state of Guanajuato, the race for governor was marked by the participation of three prominent candidates:
- Libya Dennise García Muñoz Ledorepresenting the ‘Fuerza y Corazón’ coalition composed of the PAN, PRI and PRD.
- Alma Edwviges Alcaraz Hernándezfrom the ‘Let’s Keep Making History’ coalition formed by Morena, PT and PVEM.
- Yulma Rocha Aguilarfrom the Citizen Movement party.
The Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) of the National Electoral Institute (INE) has begun to provide the first data on the results of the elections in Guanajuato, covering governorships, municipal presidencies and councils.

What will be voted on in Guanajuato?
Guanajuato not only elects its new governor, who will lead the state executive for the next six years, but will also renew its local Congress. This legislative body is made up of 36 deputies, of which 22 are elected by relative majority and 14 by proportional representation, with a mandate of three years.
Likewise, the Municipal presidents of the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato will end their mandate next year, which has called for elections for his successors. In total, 553 elected positions will be renewed, including 418 councilors and 52 trustees. The organization and supervision of these elections are in charge of the Electoral Institute of the State of Guanajuato (IEEG).

The Preliminary Election Results Program (PREP) is a computer system designed to collect and disseminate preliminary election results in real time. This system collects data from the counting and counting records generated at the polling stations.
