María Becerra joins “Despicable Me 4” as the voice of a new character

Maria Becerra is one of the voices of “Despicable Me 4”the new film in the saga that will follow the antihero Gru (starred in English by Steve Carell) in an upcoming adventure that puts his identity and the safety of his family in danger.

The artist, who this year managed to be the first Argentine woman to perform with her show at the River Plate stadium, confirmed that she will play Poppy Prescotta teenager who dreams of becoming a villain, in her Latin dubbing (in English it will be Joey King, known for “The Kissing Booth”), which we will see for the first time in this fourth part of Illumination’s highest-grossing franchise.

María Becerra confirmed that she will voice a new character from “Despicable Me 4”

“What a thrill to put my voice for this character,” announced Nena from Argentina – who has just presented her latest single “Imán” and launched her international tour “Tour 24” – from her Instagram stories, sharing the first preview where we can hear it

This is another step in the international and Hollywood career of María, who, we remember, released “Te Cura” a year ago, the main theme of the movie “Fast and Furious X.”

Directed by Chris Renaud (who created and was in charge of the first film, providing his voice for the Minions; and “The Secret Life of Pets” also from the same animation studio), “Despicable Me 4” will tell the birth of Gru Jr. and the adaptation of the family: Lucy (Oscar nominee Kristen Wiig), along with sisters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Madison Polan).

In addition to Poppy, this fourth part will include new characters as the antagonists Maxime Le Mal (starred by Emmy winner Will Ferrell) and his partner Valentina (Sofia Vergara, nominated for an Emmy). The cast includes Joey King (“Bullet Train”), the Emmy winner, Stephen Colbert (“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”) and Chloe Fineman (“Saturday night Live”). Pierre Coffin returns as the iconic voice of the Minions and alongside Oscar nominee, Steve Coogan returns as Silas Ramsbottom.

Produced by Illumination’s visionary founder and CEO, Chris Meledandri, and Brett Hoffman (executive producer of Super Mario Bros. The Movie and Minions: A Villain is Born). The film is co-directed by Patrick Delage (director of Sing 2: Come and Sing Again! and The Secret Life of Pets 2), and the script is by Emmy winner Mike White, creator of White Lotus, and veteran screenwriter of all the “Despicable Me” films, Ken Daurio. It premieres on June 20 in theaters.
