Alcaraz in selectivity
Carlos Alcaraz has been the protagonist in the Murcia selectivity exam. In ‘Mathematics II’ a problem appeared about Carlitos, in which it was asked to find out how many tournaments he had won in the years 2022 and 2023.
“In the years 2022 and 2023, Carlitos Alcaraz won a total of 10 tournaments in Grand Slam, Master 1000 and ATP 500 categories, which gave him a total of 10,000 points. The number of tournaments won in the ATP 500 category was one more than half the sum of the number of tournaments won in the other two categories. The following table details the points achieved by each winning tournament in each of the categories: Grand Slam: 2,000 points, Masters 1000: 1,000 points, ATP 500: 500 points. With this information, calculate the number of tournaments in each of the three categories won by Carlitos in the years 2022 and 2023,” the question says.
And Alcaraz did not hesitate to react: “This one is easy, right?”
