The Mayor, Carlos Fernando Galán, the Secretary of Education, Isabel Segovia, and the director of the Atenea Agency, Víctor Saavedra, announced this Friday the results of the first call for the ‘Youth to E’ program.

This Friday, June 7, the results of the first call for the ‘Youth to E’ program were announced, which awarded 2,670 scholarships for 413 programs among university students, professional technicians and technologists, in 44 Higher Education Institutions.

Most of the programs are oriented to the knowledge areas of: Engineering, architecture, urban planning and related areas (1,242 places); economics, administration, accounting and related fields (479 places); fine arts (215 places); social and human sciences (162 places); mathematics and natural sciences (109) and health sciences (93).

“In Bogotá, 36 out of every 100 young people do not enter higher education or job training programs in the year following their high school degree, with Jóvenes a la E we want to reduce that figure; We are going to make an investment of $1.7 billion to finance 39,700 scholarships in the four-year period that will also have sustained support,” Mayor Galán contextualized.

For the selection of the more than 2,000 scholarship recipients, the Ministry of Education took into account the effort and academic merit of the students. “The maximum Saber 11 test score within the candidates rose to 428 and the average result of the candidates increased by 27 points,” they explained.

44% of the beneficiaries will pursue university degrees, 35% technological programs and 19% professional technical programs. Meanwhile, 47% of the scholarships allocated are for training programs in engineering and mathematics.
