BarcelonaAfter seven episodes following the story of Tor and the mystery of Sansa’s death, this Monday viewers said goodbye to Carles Porta’s documentary series with an eighth chapter that has mixed surprises and emotional moments. From the beginning of the docuseries, Porta has made it clear that viewers had to serve as a popular jury and, after evaluating all the information collected, make a decision about who was responsible for Sansa’s death.

Thus, in this latest episode, the journalist has reviewed the most important events that took place before and after Sansa’s death, in addition to compiling the main suspects in the murder of the person who claimed to be the sole owner of the mountain of Tor. Who killed Sansa? Was it the Palanca police? The smugglers? A hitman hired by Rubén Castañer and the English businessmen? Or was it some of the hippies? Of all the suspects, in the last episode Porta only confronts one, the smuggler Josep Pujol, Coié. The journalist asks him directly if he killed Sansa. His answer is a resounding no.

The final shot of the series is an image of a cell phone that receives a call from an unknown number. In the interview after the final episode aired, Porta explained that since the series started she has received numerous calls from people claiming to know who had killed Sansa. He has also added that he has recently received a call that could be relevant but of which he still must verify the information to be able to give it veracity. Porta has assured that depending on what they discover from these calls there could be more Toralthough he emphasizes that it seems unlikely.

He has also explained that if he explicitly said who he believed killed Sansa, as the case is statute-barred, this person could sue for libel and slander. “I think whoever killed Sansa appears in the series,” said Porta, who added that he “would put his hand in the fire that no one from Tor did.”

The future of Tor

The eighth episode of Tor leaves many questions open, but serves as Porta’s love letter to the town and its neighbors, some of whom are long dead. Thus, in the last episode, viewers witness personal and intimate moments of some of the best-known characters such as Pilar Tomàs, Lázaro Moreno or Jordi Riba, Lever.

The journalist has been emotionally linked to the story of Tor for thirty years and this is evident in the last episode, when Porta invites the neighbors to reflect on what future they see in the town. After decades in which the town has been synonymous with death and violence, the docuseries ends up looking for a glimmer of hope.
