A report from the Sunday newspaper Cuarto Poder announced that the former Minister of Defense, Jorge Luis Chávez Cresta, was denounced for the alleged commission of the crime of family violence, for the alleged physical and psychological aggression against his ex-partner, Tamara Gutiérrez.

The relationship began in 2017, when the retired Army general served as head of the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), during the government of former president, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK). At that time, Chávez Cresta would have asked the young woman to live together in Lima, a proposal that was accepted by the young woman.

In 2022, Jorge Chávez Cresta was appointed as Minister of Defense in the government of President Dina Boluarte, a fact that led Tamara Gutiérrez to resign from her job in the Congress of the Republic, a position she obtained before her partner joined the Cabinet. Ministerial.

However, the romantic relationship ended after seven years and conflicts began because they shared a home. On May 20, the young woman recorded how the former minister took boxes from the house. At that moment, Gutiérrez scolds her because they did not let her see the contents of said boxes.

In a video broadcast by the journalistic program, you can see how Chávez Cresta scolds his ex-partner for recording him without his consent. At that moment, the young woman can be heard complaining that her hand was being hurt.

The former minister was consulted by Cuarto Poder and indicated that the complaint occurred when he was no longer an official and pointed out that the complaint is “a purely personal matter and must be carried out with due process.”
