Dallas’ Pleasant Grove neighborhood got off to a rocky start to the weekend, recording a late-night robbery that resulted in a shooting and a separate double murder that occurred just hours earlier.

Both incidents occurred in Councilman Jaime Resendez’s District 5.

As previously reported by the dallas express, the Dallas Police Department is struggling to control criminal activity, even as some progress has been made in terms of reducing violent crime. DPD only has about 3,000 officers on patrol, far fewer than the city’s previous roughly 4,000. recommended analysis.

Zorro 4 KDFW reports:

“Dallas police are searching for a 16-year-old suspect they believe shot and killed two people in Pleasant Grove. Police responded to a shooting call on Cedar Lake Drive around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Investigators say the suspect was in a vehicle arguing with two men when he shot both victims.”

About three hours later, someone shot a gas station attendant on Lake June Road.

“Investigators say an unknown suspect entered the business, shot the victim and took items. The employee was taken to the hospital in critical condition,” Fox 4. reported.

While demographic data on this weekend’s victims was not immediately available, blacks and Hispanics generally make up the overwhelming majority of violent crime victims in Dallas, as also covered by the dallas express.
