He Tuesday June 25 The British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup begins, at Cowdray Park Polo Club, located in Midhurst, West Sussex, which will have the participation of eighteen teams of up to 22 goals. Created in 1956 by Weetman John Churchill Pearson, Third Viscount Cowdray, and the great architect of the return of polo to England after the Second World War, the British Open is one of the highlights of the international calendar, as it is one of the three Grand Polo Slams, along with the Argentine Open and the US Open.

THE COMPETITION WILL BE TRANSMITTED LIVE THROUGH COWDRAY TV, WITH PRODUCTION BY POLOLINE TV, FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR, THROUGH THIS LINK.

Over the years, the British Open has seen a host of polo stars take home the coveted gold trophy. This achievement was shared by different generations of the same family – parents, children and even grandchildren. The first team to win the tournament, in 1956, was Los Indios, that memorable team that included Jorge Marín Moreno, Pablo Nagore, Antonio Heguy and Juan Echeverz. Antonio Heguy was the first of the legendary great polo family to win the British Open, as his legacy continued with his grandsons who were also champions at Cowdray Park – Eduardo and Ignacio Heguy, in 1996, with CS Brooks ; Bautista Heguy followed, in a pair with none other than Adolfo Cambiaso, in 2000, playing for Geebung; and, then, Marcos Heguy, in 2004, with Azzurra.

One of the great novelties of the 2024 edition of the British Open is the alliance between La Dolfina and Murus Sanctus, in a lineup that will feature Adolfo Cambiaso, Alfredo Bigatti, Marcos Araya and Corinne Ricard. Let us remember that Cambiaso and Bigatti played the Queen’s Cup as La Dolfina, along with Mia Cambiaso and Charlie Hanbury. Shoreline will not be there, but Valhalla – a finalist in the Duke of Sutherland Cup, one of the most important tournaments at Cowday Park – will join in, as well as a regular from the seasons in Dubai, Bangash.

As usual, the start of the historic and traditional tournament is awaited with many expectations, as the grand closing of the very competitive season in England.

The first day of activity of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup will have two matches:
