The Asian tour of the Mexican Baseball League ended with a visit to Taipei, capital of Taiwan, in which Horacio de la Vega Flores, Executive President of the LMB, met with his colleagues from the CPBL (Chinese Professional Baseball League) , to finalize cooperation agreements between both circuits.

On behalf of the CPBL, Cai Qichang, President of the league, and its General Secretary, Yan Qinglong, attended the work meeting; The Mexican delegation also included Bernardo Pasquel, president of El Águila de Veracruz, and Gonzalo Medina, president of the Olmecas of Tabasco.

At the meeting, discussions were held to reach a cooperation agreement in sports, marketing and promotion, as well as the possibility of friendly games between both National Teams. In this sense, Horacio de la Vega spoke out “in favor of the LMB being a bridge with the most important baseball leagues in the world and projects can be carried out to benefit the development of our sport at an international level.”

Regarding this work meeting, Cai Qichang, President of the CPBL, highlighted that: “although Mexico and Taiwan are thousands of kilometers apart in the Pacific Ocean, our love for baseball is connected.” During the visit, the Taiwanese managers invited their Mexican counterparts to the Tianmu Baseball Stadium to learn a little more about the culture of this sport in that distant country and adopt the best for the benefit of the Mexican fans.

The CPBL (Chinese Professional Baseball League) is made up of six teams (Tainan U-Lions, Taoyuan Monkeys, Taichung Brothers, New Taipei Guardians, Taipei Dragons and TSG Hawks from Kaohsiung). Currently, Mexican Marcelo Martínez is the league’s deputy leader in effectiveness with the Monkeys (1.79 ERA).
