Atlanta (USA), Jun 27 (EFE).- Former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021) arrived in Atlanta (Georgia) on Thursday aboard his private plane to participate in the first debate ahead of the November elections with his rival, Democratic President Joe Biden.

His plane, which the campaign calls “Trump Force One” in reference to the name of the presidential plane “Air Force One”, landed at around 5:20 p.m. local time (9:20 p.m. GMT) at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the main airport in the city of Atlanta.

A group of followers were waiting for him on the track, waving an American flag and holding a cell phone to record the moment.

Trump arrived accompanied by some of his top campaign advisors, including political consultant Chris LaCivita and Jason Miller, who already worked with the mogul in the 2016 and 2020 campaigns and who has led the preparation for this Thursday night’s debate. , several sources informed CNN.

According to the network, Miller has reviewed hours of debates in which Biden has participated, including the two he had with Trump in 2020, as well as previous performances.

Some of the names being bandied about as possible vice presidential running mates for Trump are already in Atlanta and have been giving interviews to the media.

Several of them, such as African-American Senator from South Carolina Tim Scott and Republican legislator Elise Stefanik, will be present after the debate in the “spin room,” the space where the former president’s team will comment to the press about the face-to-face meeting on Thursday.

The debate, the first between the two candidates for the November 5 elections, will take place at the CNN studios in Atlanta, will last 90 minutes and will not have an audience.

It will have the particularity that the network will cut off the microphone of the candidates when their time to speak is up or it is not their turn, with the aim of avoiding the constant interruptions that marked the two tense debates between Trump and Biden in 2020. EFE
