The Germany national team fell this Friday with Spain and said goodbye to the Euro 2024 which is being organised in that country. The German team could have tied things up at one point in the series against La Roja, but in the end they ended up losing thanks to a last-minute goal by Mikel Merino in extra time.

Following the elimination, several leading figures have said goodbye to the ‘Mannschaft’. The first was Toni Kroos, who officially retired from professional football without winning the European Championship with his country.

However, along with the German ‘8’ another who said goodbye to the National Team is Thomas Müllercurrent Bayern Munich player. The forward came on in the 80th minute and despite helping his team outscore the Spaniards in attack, he was unable to do much to stop them from going down in the quarter-finals.

After the match, Müller told Sky Sports that this match could have been his farewell to the national team: “It is very likely that this was my last match for Germany, yes.”

The footballer has 45 goals in 200 games with the national team, but none of them were at the European Championships and at 34 years old he does not see himself going to the 2028 European Championships to be held in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

With their Euro campaign over, Germany will be back in action in August when they face Hungary in the UEFA Nations League, but it is not known whether Müller will be in the squad for that game.
