Wimbledon: Carlos Alcaraz makes comeback to reach the last 16

Carlos Alcaraz was once again taken to a fifth set in a Grand Slam tournament, this time at Wimbledon against his good friend Frances Tiafoe.

And as he usually does under these circumstances, no matter the trouble he got into, Alcaraz rescued the match.

The Spaniard avoided being surprisingly eliminated by winning +5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 and 6-2 Tiafoe to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon in an entertaining duel, which was full of incredible moments and in which both tennis players starred in good passages throughout three hours and 50 minutes.

“It is always a great challenge to face Frances. As I have said many, many times, he is a really talented player, really difficult to face and he proved it once again,” said the defending champion.

Alcaraz was better when it mattered and improved to 12-1 in fifth sets for his career. Tiafoe fell to 6-13 in that department.
