Sergio Peris-Mencheta continues to make good progress after undergoing a bone marrow transplant on May 28 as part of his treatment for leukemia. During this recovery process, the singer received a visit from Miguel Ángel Muñoz. The Madrid native surprised his followers by publishing a snapshot on his official Instagram account where both of them could be seen at the City of Hope hospital in Los Angeles.

The Madrid native, who recently celebrated his birthday, has said that “the best gift” has been given to him by his friend “the titan Peris-Mencheta”. In the same publication, Muñoz explains that the director “was recovering from his recent bone marrow transplant while finishing the direction of the play 14.4” when the visit took place.

“I have been surprised for many years by his great abilities, but here he has already completed the game with 7 expansions,” he continued. “When I arrived, there were only a few days left before he could ring the bell three times, which would mean that the transplant had worked and he could go home with his family to continue taking care of himself,” he explained. It should be remembered that Peris-Mencheta is already at home after being discharged with his wife and two children.

«Sergio is like that. He has been surprising me for many years with his great abilities, but here he has already finished the game with 7 expansions», explained Muñoz, who wanted to give more details about what they did during those moments. «We were trying out some Apple glasses with which I could sit in the stalls watching the show among the audience. To me it all seemed like science fiction, but I knew that if Sergio said so, he would be able to do it. And he did. He rang the bell, went home, finished directing 14.4 and I was able to attend the premiere in Madrid and enjoy this birthday present in the form of a play», he concluded.

Of course, Sergio Peris-Mencheta was accompanied in the hospital by his wife, Marta Solaz, who has been a great support for the interpreter and for whom Muñoz had some emotional words of thanks: “She is as extraordinary as he is and she has been the other person in charge of transplanting energy, confidence, generosity and above all, LOVE.”

Peris-Mencheta is currently continuing his recovery at home, in a stage that the director himself described as “tough” in a recent interview with Cadena Ser.
