It seems that from this afternoon the weather conditions in the affected area “will begin to get more complicated” as a result of the arrival of the hurricane, according to the latest information, as it gradually moves away from the coasts of Yucatan (Mexico).
According to the National Water Commission of Mexico (Conagua) and the country’s meteorological services, the forecast in Yucatán for the next few hours is for intense rains (75 to 150 liters per square meter), and 50 to 75 liters in areas such as Campeche and Quintana Roo.
Gusts of wind of 80 to 100 km/h are also expected, and strong waves of 2 to 3 meters high and possible formation of waterspouts on the coasts of Yucatan.
Gusts of 70 to 90 km/h, waves of 2 to 3 meters high and possible formation of waterspouts are expected on the northern coast of Quintana Roo and gusts of 40 to 60 km/h with waves of 1 to 2 meters high on the north coast of Campeche.
Hurricane Milton, which had dropped to category 4, has intensified and is moving away from the Mexican coasts without reports of fatalities or injuries in the main tourist destinations of the Mexican Caribbean.
The governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, reported a “white balance” and raised alerts due to the passage of the hurricane, during the commemoration of the state’s 50th anniversary.
“Our state is out of major danger with the departure of Hurricane Milton from our coasts,” said Lezama.
