Apple TV+ has found its protagonist for the adaptation of the acclaimed science fiction novel Neuromancer by William Gibson. The actor Callum Turner He will be in charge of playing Case, an elite hacker who becomes involved in a dangerous network of digital espionage and high-risk crimes.
This role marks the second lead role in an Apple TV+ series for Callum Turner, who previously starred in Masters of the Air alongside Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan. In addition to her television work, she has also appeared in films such as the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Queen & Country, Green Room, and The Boys in the Boat.
What is Neuromancer about?
The 10-episode series will take us into a dystopian future where technology has permeated all aspects of life. Case, along with her partner Molly, an assassin with unique abilities, will embark on a daring heist against a powerful corporation that holds unimaginable secrets.
Neuromancer, Gibson’s original novel published in 1984, is considered a masterpiece of the cyberpunk genre. He won the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, and the Philip K. Dick Award, and is credited with laying the foundation for modern science fiction. The novel has two sequels: Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.
The Apple TV+ adaptation is directed by Graham Roland and JD Dillard, who will serve as showrunner and directors of the pilot, respectively. Both will also be executive producers alongside a team of industry professionals such as David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Anonymous Content, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Jason Shrier, Zack Hayden and William Gibson himself.
