You probably know his voice, the one that has given life to the most emotional moments of the most popular television series of recent times. His name is If they see, the Chilean singer who, with a past in the sales industry, seeks to conquer the ears of all of Chile. At the same time, he seeks to run as emerging artist at the Grammy Awards.
He is currently planning a show at Club Amanda and preparing his new album with the minds behind it of hits by artists of the stature of Daddy Yankee, Romeo Santos and Enrique Iglesias. «First I want people throughout Chile to know my face, because today they know my main songs, “But my great challenge is to let people know that I am the face behind the main songs of the Mega soap operas.”he says about his artistic goal for this year.
How would you define your musical proposal?
My musical style is Latin pop. I have great Central American influences from Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. This whole project was born in Colombia after a trip after my dad’s departure. and many things that happened in my life. It is Colombia where this happens. My great influences are Carlos Vives, Sebastián Yatra, Maluma, Chino y Nacho and Piso 21.
How did your songs start playing on Mega?
When my dad passes away I enter into personal introspection. My dad was my best friend and he died at the age of 50 from devastating cancer. Being an only child, I had to rethink life. I am a commercial engineer and I worked for a couple of years in the business world. When I am in Colombia and I decide to make the decision to fulfill the dream of being a singer and I started to compose the first two songs, I call the Mega headquarters; There I tell about my project. I began an escalation of different contacts. At that time he was nobody: he only had two songs without a video clip. Some time passes and I receive an email from María Eugenia (Quena) Rencoret, where she congratulates me and tells me that she loved the music, and that she was going to see where she could fit in.
They passed around 6 months and then she calls me and confirms that my two songs were going to be the protagonists of the soap operas. It was a very beautiful moment. In fact, he called me very recently, because now he started a new TV series called “Al sur del corazón”, where we are with my latest release called “Amor eternal”. Now we continue on “Like life itself” with my two songs called “Sin ti” and “Tuyo”.
What is your main goal?
In this last year and a half a lot has happened. I was blessed to open Carlos Vives’ show in Chile, and abroad I sang with Mike Bahía and Greeicy. First I want people throughout Chile to know my face, because today they know my main songs, but my great challenge is for people to know that I am the face behind the main songs of the Mega teleseries. In parallel I have an international route where I just spent two months in Miami; I recorded my new album with the team behind Enrique Iglesias, Wisin y Yandel, Romeo Santos, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, CNCO and others. I’m doing a release on Saturday May 18th at 9pm at Club Amanda, where we’re going to release one of these songs. We are going to start playing the different countries in Latin America, like Peru Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Venezuela.
I have two goals: to continue raising the flag of my own country and to start playing in international countries. I also want to do a feat with a great international singer, like Maluma or Sebastián Yatra. There I’m going to start making a plan to be able to reach them. and get them excited about some of my songs.
How did your approaches to music begin?
Well, by profession I am a commercial engineer with a specialty in sales. I had around 5 musical bands throughout my life, where I was a vocalist. Now, after resigning as an engineer, I have been 100% dedicated for a year and a half to being a professional singer. I am studying hard, I have piano, singing and dancing classes. I am working hard on this to achieve my goal: to be at the level of the great international artists.
Do you work alone?
Of course not this. This is not just me. I have a very important team, with great knowledge, a team of producers and composers. I am surrounded by a very powerful team. The team behind my new album has composed for Enrique Iglesias, Wisin y Yandel and Romeo Santos. The production of the album is being done in the house where “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee and “Bandolera” by Don Omar were recorded. I believe that the professional team that is being assembled is very powerful and is behind everything I am doing.
