Yolanda Diazvice president of the Government and leader of Sumar, has criticized RTVE for turning Eurovision into “an act of propaganda in the middle of a genocide” as a result of the participation of Israel. They have announced that they are going to study measures against the public entity so that it does not happen again.
“Our public television cannot allow a contest that defends peace and diversity to become an act of propaganda in the midst of a genocide. “We are going to study the necessary measures so that RTVE does not return in these conditions.”.
For their part, Sumar, a party of which Díaz is the leader, have also dedicated a few words to the broadcast of the festival and in the same thread: “Israel should never have participated in this edition of Eurovision. A festival of unity and diversity cannot be the occasion to whitewash a genocide. Long live free Palestine.”
It has not been the only publication they have made about it. Through their X account (Twitter, before) they have shared an image of a watermelon and the phrase: “Free Palestine.”
