On May 27, 2007 at 11:59 at night, Venezuelan television experienced one of the hardest moments in its entire history, the closure of Radio Caracas Television. A channel that for years provided entertainment, fun and professionalism with productions that to this day remain in the hearts of national TV lovers.

“Topacio”, “Cristal”, “The Lady in Pink”, “Abigaíl”, “On These Streets”, “Angélica Sin”, “Viva la Pepa”, “Juana, the Virgin”, “Intimate Rags”, “My gorda bella”, “La cuaima”, “Estrambótica Anastasia”, were some of the great soap operas that channel 2 made for the Venezuelan public.

Nostalgia messages

Creole artists who for years lived in the silver and accompanied the Creoles on the small screen, did not hesitate to use their personal Instagram accounts to share photos and videos of the most special moments they experienced.

Singer Kiara He shared a reel with the nostalgic song “When a friend goes,” a song that at the time became an anthem before the channel went black forever. In the clip you can see thousands of workers marching and crying about the situation.

“17 years after closing, I am leaving you a well-deserved tribute to my second home and my #RCTV acting school. Thank you for choosing me as the voice to the world,” wrote the 62-year-old artist.

Actress Dora Mazzone also posted a video alleging that for 53 years RCTV broadcast the best programming for all of Venezuela, with variety, information, entertainment and soap operas that were brought to the whole world.

Eyla Adrian was another who in her stories from the camera revealed images of the channel that was her home for years, as host of the program “De boca en boca.”

Nelson Bustamante, wrote “17 years of the unjust closure of our house @rctv”. Meanwhile, Camila Canabal stated “This sadness will never go away.”
