Carlos Navarro, known as ‘El Yoyas’ was condemned by the Criminal Court 5 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to 5 years and 8 months in prison for gender violence against his ex-partner Fayna Bethencourt and mistreatment of his two minor children.

After 19 months fleeing from justice, The former contestant of ‘Big Brother’ was arrested last Wednesday in the Catalan town of l’Anoia and transferred to the Brians 1 prison in Barcelona. However, last week he was transferred to module 12 of Brians 2, a special unit for those convicted of gender-based violence.

Last Thursday, Esteban GómezNavarro’s lawyer said that ‘El Yoyas’ had made the decision to dispense with his services, although it was something unforeseen.

The lawyer has given an interview to ’20 minutes’ in which he explained the reason: “During the visit on Monday he already told me that The family was upset by my interventions and because I had not attacked Fayna. Look, there is a firm sentence and start as if I were in ‘Salsa Rosa’ insult Fayna… well, look, no. I am a professional.”

Esteban Gómez explained how he found out about the decision: “Until Wednesday I was writing to the Constitutional Court and at that time I received an email from an office asking for my permission. That is, I stop being the lawyer (…) It’s all been very ugly. I had been talking to my sister for two days, she didn’t answer me anything, I had told her that I was going to go at noon for the fourth time in a week and, well, is to be upset.”
