Almost 100 Chilean lawyersmostly descendants of Palestinians, presented a complaint before the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the Israeli prime ministerBenjamin Netanyahu, for alleged crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes in Gaza.
The complaint was presented on December 22 in The Hague. The former ambassador Nelson Hadadlawyer Rodolfo Marconethe academics Roberto Mayorga, Juan Banderas and Hassan Zeran lead the presentation before the International Court of Justice, assisted by the criminal lawyer Juan Carlos Manriquez.
The complainants, who are part of the largest Palestinian community in the world outside the territory of the Palestinian State, request a arrest warrant against Benjamin Netanyahualong with the other agents and soldiers responsible for these crimes.
“It seeks to prove the genocide that is being committed”
Former Ambassador Nelson Hadad noted that “These crimes have been committed for almost 90 days.day and night, with indiscriminate bombings on the population in Gaza, with the destruction of entire residential neighborhoods, without distinction between civilians and combatants.”
“It is the duty of all countries to denounce war criminals so that be accountable, assume their responsibilities, be punished according to the penalties of the Rome Statute and can also proceed to reparation for victims“said the former diplomat in statements to EFE.
From the parliamentary world, the senators joined Francisco Chahuán, Ximena Rincón, Paulina Vodanovic, Iván Moreira, Sergio Gahona and Alfonso de Urrestiwhich adhered to the filed complaint.
“This seeks to accredit the genocide that is taking place in Gaza, the forced displacement of people, war crimes and particularly the violation of international humanitarian law. Here they are asking for Netanyahu’s criminal responsibilities, to force an immediate ceasefire,” said Chahuán.
