“I have not been able to sleep peacefully”: former Cobreloa cadet confirms gang rape against a young woman

The lower divisions of Copperloa They have been in the middle of controversy for several months after the complaint of a young woman, who claimed that he was the victim of a mass rape by a group of between eight and ten club cadets inside the Orange House in September 2021.

Although the institution opened an internal investigation to clarify the facts, at the beginning of April an official statement was shared in which they indicated that “from the background information collected It was not possible to prove in the barbecue in question whether the abuse or violation was committed (…) according to what was stated by a witness, the alleged victim would have withdrawn the complaint.”

And although the long investigation failed to clarify the facts, recently on the TV+ sports program, Círculo Central, they interviewed a young man who would have been present at the party, and he confirmed the serious accusations against the team in conversation with Mauritius Israel.

He assured that there was rape

Regarding the reasons for what led him to make the decision to speak, the young man said: “I am here because after seeing the statement that Cobreloa sent, everyone says that we must make yourself available to the victim but that also means telling the truth. How can they say that nothing has happened, everyone knows and we know it is true.”

The interviewee also indicated that he was present the night the events occurred, pointing out that he lived on the club premises. In addition, he confirmed the consumption of alcohol among athletes.

“From the moment the events occurred Until today I have not been able to sleep peacefully, and it is something that haunts me almost every night and I want justice,” added the young man. Israel asked her directly if she could say in the program whether or not the complainant was abused, and he said yes.

“This testimony demolishes the statement made by Cobreloa, because here is a person who was present. Are you willing to take responsibility?”, the journalist asked the young man, who nodded.
