Forest fires destroy 260 hectares of forests in Vietnam

In recent days, 15 fires were detected in several provinces, including Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Quang Tri, Nghe An, Ca Mau, Kien Giang, An Giang, detailed the VNA news agency when releasing a dispatch on this matter addressed by the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh.

The information highlights that in particular the fire that occurred on April 26 and 27 in the Vi Xuyen district, in the northern province of Ha Giang, destroyed about 20 hectares of forest and caused the death of two forestry agents and injuries to one. third, while they were fighting the flames.

The government statement requires ministries and localities to continue taking drastic and effective measures to prevent and combat forest fires, as well as promote awareness campaigns on the issue.

It also guides the competent authorities to strictly control the use of fire by the population in and near forests, and to strictly manage those acts in which the use of flames poses a high risk of causing fires.

The National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Center of Vietnam warned that the heat wave will continue to hit many locations in the coming days, so the risk of forest fires will remain high.
