A rumor broke out a few days ago among migrants hoping to enter the United States from Mexico or who are making their way through Central America. Will they open the North American border in May for the passage of migrants to the United States? This was responded to by the northern government.
The United States Border Patrol assured in a statement that they will maintain their commitment to enforcing current immigration laws. “We want to make it clear that irregular entry into the country crossing through unauthorized points will have consequences,” they warned.

In other words, the United States authorities denied that this May they would open the southern border for the free passage of migrants. There is no such reality, quite the opposite.

Those on the border specified that the immigration laws of the United States have not changed and they will continue working to secure their borders and protect national security. So they invited people who consider migrating to do so legally and safely, using the channels established by the authorities.
“You may be returned to your country of origin if it is quickly determined that you are not eligible for asylum (…) Don’t believe the lies. Smugglers are not interested in your safety and only want to make a profit. Use legal means to come to the United States,” they said from the Border Patrol.
Finally, they stated that “crossing the border between ports of entry continues to be a violation of the law,” and that, therefore, those captured will not be able to access legal entry benefits. The recommendation continues to be to wait for CBP One’s appointment in Mexico and we reiterate to migrants that it is false that the United States border will be open in May.
