Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, stated this Monday that the offensive against the Gaza Strip will continue until “dismantling” the “military capabilities” of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and achieving the release of “all” those kidnapped. during the attacks carried out on October 7 against Israeli territory. “It is a war in which there is no choice, a war that will shape our lives for decades to come,” said Gallant, who stressed that the Israeli Army will continue its attacks against Gaza until the control of the enclave by the Islamist group. Thus, he has emphasized that the offensive will continue “until we return prosperity and creativity to the State of Israel and smiles on the faces of its citizens”, within the framework of a ceremony for Remembrance Day – in which pays tribute to the fallen soldiers–, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’. In recent weeks, the Israeli Army has increased its bombings against the city of Rafah, on the border with Egypt, going so far as to carry out incursions into the area – including taking over the Palestinian side of the border crossing -, while at the same time it has intensified its operations against other points of the enclave, especially in the northern area of ​​the Strip. Israel launched its offensive after the attacks carried out on October 7, which left nearly 1,200 dead and some 240 kidnapped. To date, the offensive leaves more than 35,000 Palestinians dead, in addition to more than 480 deaths at the hands of Israeli security forces or in attacks carried out by settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
