More than six people were run over by a bus on the Quinindé-Esmeraldas road. The accident left two people dead.
A double traffic accident was recorded on the Quinindé – Esmeraldas road, the morning of this Monday, June 3, 2024.
In the first event, two people were injured, but in the second event, which involved an interprovincial bus, there were two people dead and one injured.
In images that were spread on social networks, it is observed how a bus from the Gilberto Zambrano Cooperative ran over several people who were on the road.
Most were with the young people who were injured while riding a motorcycle. They were the victims of the first incident.
The second incident occurred when the bus went over all the people who were on the road and hit an ambulance, which was also parked at the scene.
According to the images circulating on the Internet, on the Quinindé – Esmeraldas road there were more than six people on the road.
While some of them received attention from paramedics, an ambulance parked meters ahead.

Later, police officers also arrived at the point to talk to the people present. According to ECU 911, the injured people suffered a motorcycle accident and were waiting on the road to be transferred to a medical home.
Bus did not stop
In the videos released, it is evident that the residents saw a bus approaching in the direction of where the injured people were.
Some made gestures to them to stop and not move forward, but that did not happen.
Immediately afterwards, the bus runs over all the people who were in the middle of the street. Some were able to run to one end of the road, but around four to five people did not manage to escape and received the full impact.

Subsequently, the police present arrested the bus driver, while it was observed that a young man could be rescued at the height of the tires.
