Description submitted by the project team. Located in the southern region of São Paulo, with a focus on sustainability and environmental preservation, Casa Janaúba stands out in the landscape on a 420m² plot of land surrounded by trees, the main one being located in the center of the plot. This establishes the starting point for the “C”-shaped volumetry that encompasses the preservation of the tree as the protagonist of the project. A construction with contrasting volumes was chosen to allow visibility from different points of the house, creating well-integrated spaces bathed in light and vegetation that penetrate the construction.
The house is both organic and linear: three rectangular volumes stand out with a glass and steel structure that supports the upper floors. Through the sections of these volumes, the notion of solidity and lightness stands out due to the contrast between these elements. The project consists of two floors and a roof. On the ground floor, one wing houses the service areas including laundry, kitchen, dining room and barbecue, while the other wing is dedicated to the social areas. In the center, between the two volumes, there is a breathing space: the central tree, a swimming pool and a garden form a cozy recreation area. The private areas are located upstairs, while the deck offers a function room with space for outdoor exercise, providing stunning views of the treetops.
In general, the project abdicates for the integration between the building and the natural environment through the elimination of visual barriers, the adoption of large glass surfaces, the integration of spaces and the use of natural materials to ensure its aesthetics. The mixed structure, with steel columns and beams that support the concrete slab panels, was the option chosen to compose the construction.
