The Helga de Alvear Museum in Cáceres extends the exhibition dedicated to Carlos Bunga for one month

The temporary exhibition of the Helga de Alvear Museum in Cáceres ‘Performing nature’, dedicated to the Portuguese artist Carlos Bunga, and whose closing was scheduled for this Sunday, May 12, it will finally remain open for an additional month due to the success of the audience and with the aim of continuing to expand knowledge about the artist. Finally, it will be retired on June 9, 2024.

This is the artist’s first major anthological exhibition in Spain, who has just been awarded the Visual Arts Award from the Association of Art Critics of Portugal. According to the museum’s director, Sandra Guimarães, the exhibition “affirms the philosophy and direction of the Helga de Alvear Museum’s program, as well as its responsibility, which is to investigate and present the work of artists who have a personal language capable of moving us to places that we did not know before and that broaden our vision of the world. It can be visited for free from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Furthermore, Helga prepares a special programming on the occasion of International Museum Day 2024 – celebrated on May 18 – around the question “how do you imagine the museum of the future?” The objective is to underline the importance of different communities in their constant construction and transformation and invites all people to reflect on the museum of the future. Following this guideline, the institution will launch a special program of activities with an emphasis on citizen participation and co-creation within the ecosystem of a living, changing, inclusive museum open to citizens.

The museum has also already inaugurated, on floor -1, the exhibition ‘Can the archipelago enter the museum?’which forges a relationship between these works and the contemporary world.
