On Thursday, April 25, the 48th edition of the historic Buenos Aires International Book Fair. The literary event takes place at the fairgrounds The Rural, in the heart of the Palermo neighborhood, and runs until May 13. For almost three weeks, there will be talks, book presentations, workshops, game tournaments and, of course, thousands of books within the reach of amateur readers.

Thousands of readers will be able to come to the La Rural property from Monday to Friday, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., while on Saturdays, Sundays and this Wednesday, May 1, entry is enabled from 1 p.m. Tickets range from $3,500 from Monday to Thursday, $5,000 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, up to $7,500, which corresponds to a pass for three visits to the fair.

However, this Monday, the City Government, together with the Book Foundation, announced the authorization of free admission for all people on different days of the week. According to the recent statement, it can be accessed free of charge from Monday to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Monday, April 29 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 30 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 2 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Monday, May 6, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 7 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 8 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 9 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Children up to 12 years old, school visitors and people with disabilities can enter free of charge every day.
  • Teachers can enter for free every day, presenting a pay stub or proof of their work.
  • Students, retirees and pensioners must present proof to access free of charge from Monday to Friday.

In that sense, Jorge Macri, head of the City Government, expressed: “Cultural identity is one of the registered trademarks of the City of Buenos Aires, and the love of Buenos Aires people for culture distinguishes us and fills us with pride. That is why we made this decision to accompany them by allowing free entry to the Fair from Monday to Thursday starting at 8 p.m. We have the conviction and the decision to continue investing in culture. For her part, Gabriela Ricardes, Minister of Culture, said that “this is a very important decision by Jorge Macri’s government to accompany the people of Buenos Aires at this time.
