One of the most anticipated moments for the young people of Vicuña was the presence of David Montoya: YouTuber and now also Drag Queen. Known as Diva-D on stage.

Book exchange, literary recital, presentation of a novel by influencer David Montoya, as well as flamenco singing and dancing, were the various activities with which the Municipal Cultural Corporation celebrated Book and Copyright Day in Vicuña.

As is known, every year, the arrival of April is a great date for the literary world both in Chile and internationally, since every 23rd of that month is “International Book and Copyright Day.” An important event that seeks to promote the right to read, bring books and authors closer to citizens, as well as recognize the protection of intellectual property through copyright.

For this reason, the Vicuña Municipal Cultural Corporation prepared a series of free activities for audiences of various ages. For the second consecutive year, the “Book Barter” initiative took place.

One of the permanent attendees at the cultural activities organized by the Culture Corporation, Elio Yevenes, highlighted the importance of the book in society. “I believe that the book has to have a social claim and from there this Vicuñeño meeting, because we meet faces, known people, with different entities, people who expose is to magnify literature, magnify reading, the book itself.

Subsequently, the “Literary Recital” began, in which around a dozen readers participated, including Ehurodice Rivera, Elquina writer, winner of the Municipal Editorial Fund version 2023, “Career” category. Rivera read poetry. Regarding the show she pointed out, “I thought it was a beautiful event, very well prepared, listening to local writers and other people from the audience was a very nice experience. Seeing David Montoya live, his warmth, his friendliness, the arrival he has with a large audience, also very nice, and ending with a flourish like Corazón de Madera, so it fills the soul, grateful for the invitation ” .

The bookinfluencer launched his third solo book: Ridicula, a best-seller, a work about which he spoke last Saturday, April 27 at the House of Culture.

David Montoya has roots in the Vicuña commune as well, on his maternal grandmother’s side, “I always have a great time when I come here, it’s like coming home, the audience that came to see me was very respectful, affectionate, very grateful for the opportunity (…) what I want to convey through the book is the freedom of being and that there is no obligation of a social imposition of how to be with respect to the gender of man or woman.”

The night ended with a flamenco music and dance show with the presentation of the artistic collective “Corazón de Madera”, who with more than 20 years of experience delighted the public with the exhibition of this artistic genre from Spain.

Camilo Candia on guitar and Claudia Sanhueza on song and dance, make up Corazón de Madera, Latin flamenco. Sanhueza points out “We are really great admirers of the culture and the cultural movement that exists here in Vicuña, one never ceases to be surprised and admired by the level of support, production and professionalism with which artistic expressions are valued.”

An intense day of free activities that were aimed at the entire Vicuña community.
