In 2024, literature and cinema will be closer than ever as several directors and producers have adaptations of books to the screen that you have to read before seeing them in the cinema.
The books that have already been or will be adapted span a variety of genres from historical dramas to young adult novels to action-packed comics. With recent successful adaptations such as The Idea of You and Daisy Jones and the Six, Hollywood has no reason to slow down its frenzy of adaptations. With big stars like Blake Livey, Robert Pattinson and Dakota Fanning ready to take on the role of these characters from literature.

The Watchers – June 14, 2024
The horror novel of 2022, The Watchers from AM Shine, will be the directorial debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of the horror genius, M. Night Shyamalan, who brought us none other than The Sixth Sense.
The film will star Dakota Fanning as the novel’s protagonist, a 28-year-old artist who becomes trapped in a mysterious forest in the west of Ireland.
It Ends With Us – August 9, 2024
Colleen Hoover’s long-awaited, BookTok-loved novel is finally coming to our screens with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni (who also directs it).
The novel follows Lily as she believes she has found true love with Ryle, but when a painful incident triggers past traumas, she must decide if love alone can sustain her marriage. However, things get complicated when her first love returns to her life.
Conclave – November 8, 2024
Without a doubt an adaptation that will be successful in this year’s award nominations, the novel Conclavefrom 2016, is a work of fiction centered on the death of the pope, which triggers a papal conclave to select his successor.
Edward Berger, the director of the acclaimed All Quiet on the Western Fronthas adapted Robert Harris’ book for the screen, with a cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci and Isabella Rossellini.
nightbitch – December 6, 2024
The horror novel nightbitch by Rachel Yoder will be adapted to film by director Marielle Heller, with Amy Adams as protagonist and producer.
The story follows a mother who believes she is turning into a dog during the night. When her husband doesn’t believe her, she turns to a group of mothers involved in suspicious activities.
Mickey 7 – January 31, 2025
We finally have the return of Bong Joon-ho since his success with Parasite. The Korean director returns to the cinema with Mickey 17starring Robert Pattinson, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie.
The film is based on a 2022 science fiction novel written by Edward Ashton about a disposable employee on an expedition to colonize an icy world called Niflheim. After one version of Mickey dies, a new body regenerates.
The Perfect Couple – 2024
The perfect “whodunit” comes to our screens with a six-episode murder mystery drama. The story takes place over a weekend during a luxurious wedding on the island of Nantucket that takes an unexpected turn when a body appears on the beach on the day of the ceremony, with all the guests being suspicious.
The series will star Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Eve Hewson, the series will undoubtedly be full of intrigue and drama.
