The second and last day of the Book Marketwhich took place over the weekend at the House of Culture at the initiative of the Secretariat of Cultural Management, had wide participation in the workshops, talks and spaces where booksellers shared works by Catamarca authors and classics of all genres. literary.

At 4 p.m., the children’s workshop “Leyendas del Norte” opened the activity, based on two regional legends: Llastay’s Daughter and The Widow; and continued with the workshop for clothing and recycling markers “I’ve come this far today”, where the public enjoyed creating creative pieces.

In the first patio of the House of Culture, visitors visited the stands of Catamarca authors and local publishers, and the Dr. Julio Herrera Provincial Library with its usual space for the exhibition and marketing of books by authors from all over the province. In the second patio, the proposal was for new and used books on different topics and local booksellers.

At 6 p.m. the talk “Death, cemeteries and death certificates” began, led by Leandro Tua and Carlos Carabajal, who presented authors who address concepts about death; They also highlighted the cycle “Steps with history in the cemetery” as one of the activities related to funerary and mortuary tourism.

Next, literature teacher Graciela Mentasti presented the project “Los Barrios de Catamarca”, a series of books she authored in which she reveals stories of the city’s residents. Her first book was “Villa Cubas, a neighborhood with stories” and she continued with the neighborhood “La Tablada”.

“To write the books I looked for oral sources, I spoke with neighbors, in 2008 I wrote La Tablada; Nowadays it is difficult to make a book about neighborhoods because people are afraid because of the insecurity of receiving people they don’t know, of telling, talking, before it was easier,” he expressed.

Regarding the writing process, he said that his method is open interviews and he makes a record of places in the neighborhood, for example, in La Tablada, the Police Club, who spoke, and with the church, all those who worked to build it, Father Zelarayán who was the first parish priest; He also announced that he is now working in the La Chacarita neighborhood.

The day ended in the third patio with the dance workshop “Come and dance”, where the public was delighted with folk music, and was able to appreciate works of visual art, notebook stands and handmade agendas with a variety of designs for all tastes. .
