Rome, June 3. — This Monday in Italy, a book will be presented that collects the conversations between the journalist Gianni Miná and the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, historical leader of the Cuban Revolution. This event is one of the most notable in the publishing world of the year.

The presentation of the book will take place at a conference at the University of Genoa, located in the city of the same name in the northern region of Liguria. This event is part of a tour organized jointly by the Gianni Miná Foundation and the National Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (Anaic), according to a note published by the latter entity, reported Prensa Latina.

The book is unique of its kind, since it compiles the meetings between Miná and Fidel, which began in 1974. It has prologues by Jorge Amado and Gabriel García Márquez and an epilogue by Frei Betto. The edition was in charge of the filmmaker Loredana Macchietti, widow of the renowned Italian journalist.

The volume includes four interviews with the revolutionary leader, including those from 1987 and 1990, followed by two others, the last in 2015, a year before the death of the Commander in Chief, within the framework of the visit of Pope Francis. To Cuba.

These interviews are a reflection of Miná’s responsible journalism, his ability to challenge the dogmas imposed by the press at the service of US imperialism and his defense of the humanist and social work of the revolution in that Latin American country.

Miná expressed, shortly before her death, that “Cuba is an example for the world, for me it represents the realization of utopia,” and added that that country “has a system different from ours, socialist, not imposed, but chosen.” .

“They have been unfairly paying for this election with an economic blockade for more than 60 years and with ignoble lies from some media that I have been trying to dismantle for thirty years,” he declared in an open letter published in Italy on October 15, 2022. .

Macchietti, president of the Gianni Miná Foundation, will be present in Genoa, as well as at the upcoming events where this book will be discussed, scheduled in the cities of Trento and Rovereto, in the northern Alpine region of Trentino-Alto Adige.

The tour will continue throughout the European country, with the support of the Anaic circles distributed throughout Italy.
