La Inaudita has called on Córdoba society to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Julio Romero de Torres through choral participation in the art book LOOK AT ME: Woman and mystery in Julio Romero de Torres, and that seeks, among other things, to bring together women from Córdoba to recreate the painter’s art.

As detailed by this cultural group from Córdoba, the initiative arose at the beginning of the year between Xibarit, a publishing house specialized in the production of luxury books on topics with deep territorial roots, and La Inaudita, with the collaboration of UCOCultura, Hamman Al Ándalus and La Espartería Casserole.

Thus, the initiative aims to look at today’s Córdoban woman in the light of Julio Romero de Torres, through the lens of photographer Joseba Urretavizcaya. Real women from today’s Córdoba, professionals from the most diverse fields, actively participate in the black and white photographic reproduction of the selected paintings, in a contemporary vision of the work of the most universal painter of the city in which they live, and then They are photographed in urban contexts that are meaningful to them.

The book, whose first photography session took place at the end of February, has already developed 30% of its photographic content with the participation of women – teachers, artists, writers, illustrators – from around La Inaudita. Now it is about opening a spiral of participation from this epicenter to the entire city, so that people from all walks of life can participate in this celebration.

The second photography session will take place between June 23 and 29, 2024 and people interested in participating can inquire in person at La Inaudita in the morning hours (from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) or on the website https: //www.150.julio.romero.lainaudita.com/

There are three ways to participate: collaborating in the production, offering locations (rooftops with views, patios, etc.) or props (mantillas, flowing dresses, bullfighting costumes, copper jugs, furniture, etc.); posing in one of the paintings (on the website you can select the paintings still available and the time slots to participate) and, through the pre-sale, which is already open and offers special conditions to companies and organizations.

The limited edition of 1,474 copies, in a luxury box, with an iconic knife, parchment spine, with the cuts painted and hand-sewn, with heavy-weight art paper from the book LOOK AT ME: Woman and mystery in Julio Romero de Torres It will be presented on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at an event in which pre-sale copies will be delivered to companies, organizations and individuals who have supported the project through the purchase of copies.
