Based on the book eponymous from 1991 written by Francine Rivers, the story is set in the United States around the year 1850, in the midst of the California gold rush. There we meet Angel, a young woman who has been forced into prostitution since she was little. Because the only thing she knows about men is violence and abuse, she has turned her back on faith and any kind of hope.

However, everything changes when Michael, a devoted farmer, arrives at the town where she works. After seeing her on the street, he falls deeply in love with her and decides to marry her and promise her a life full of unconditional love. However, Angel’s past and his greatest fears get in the way.
