Plaza del Libro is a free-entry fair, which has been consolidating, due to its feminist theme, into a platform for the dissemination and conservation of oral, graphic and written expressions of different creators.

On this occasion, the attending public will be able to enjoy talks about nature, science, journalism and history. Within the framework of Plaza del Libro 2024, a heartfelt tribute will be paid to Constanza Ramírez Silva, biologist and economist, ddefender of the environment in Colombia and tireless worker for the protection of nature and peasant rights, resident in Honda and recently deceased.

For many years he worked with Alfredo Molano, with whom he wrote the books “Apaporis” and “Journey to the Last Jungle”, this tribute that will address his immense contributions to the country, will be guided by Germán Ferro, director of the Magdalena River Museum.

In this third version, the international guest is Carmen Magallón Portolés, Doctor in Physical Sciences and Spanish professor, specialized in the history of women in science and the relationships between gender, science and peace.

Former president of WILPF Spain (Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom) and Honorary president of the same organization, Magallón will have two interventions, Women in science: a story of lights and shadows, together with Camilo Hoyos, director of the podcast Paredro, and Building peace hand in hand with women, together with Elena Ambrosi, lawyer, specialized in humanitarian law and international relations.

On this occasion the fair will highlight the work of journalists Laura Ardila, who will present her book “La Costa Nostra”, and Yolanda Ruíz, who will talk about her book “En el filo de la navaja”. Both will talk in different scenarios with the mathematician Adriana Camacho.

We will also have the conference Art, culture, journalism and ethics in which Diana Castro Benetti, director of the Malpensante Foundation, Omar Rincón, researcher at the Center for Journalism Studies at the University of the Andes and Mheo (Mario Orozco), political cartoonist will participate. from the newspaper El País de Cali, collaborator in El Espectador and Cambio Magazine, who will talk with the journalist and writer Sergio Zapata León.

Among the talks and conversations about nature we will have The Jaguar Strategy, in which he participates Diana Stasiukynas, biologist with a master’s degree in biodiversity management and conservation, who will talk with the Colombian illustrator Paula Andrea Romero.

The Magdalena River Museum, an ally of this fair, will also have two conversations: Magdalena symbol and river, in which the book “MAGDALENA” by María Fernanda Franco and Germán Ferro will be launched, presented under the Museo del Río Magdalena publishing label and which will be moderated by Paola Castillo, cultural manager and general coordinator of the Museum; The second conversation will be I Have the Mountains Left, a presentation of the book of the same name by Carolina Echeverri, a Colombian writer and journalist known for her work on the podcast “Relatos Sonoros de la Montaña”, moderated by Adriana Falla and Germán Ferro.
