5,734 Primary and Secondary students in Zamora will have free books next year

5,734 students in the province of Zamora will have free textbooks next year thanks to the Releo Plus program promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León. The Ministry of Education has recognized the right to obtain free books for 79,621 students of Primary and Compulsory Secondary Educationwhose parents have an income of less than 23,688 euros in 2022.

In this way, when establishing the call the income thresholds at 2.82 times the IPREM – in previous years it was 2.65, 2.68 and 2.8 –, 1,597 more students have obtained this scholarship compared to the current 2023-2024 academic year, that is, an increase of 2, 05% registered at the regional level.

Definitely, 67% of the students of the compulsory education community that has submitted an application will not have to pay for the textbooks and curricular material that they will use in the next course. Each family will receive from 280 euros in Primary Education to 350 euros for Compulsory Secondary Education, as the maximum amount. For all this, the Junta de Castilla y León has allocated a budget of 16 million euros.

More beneficiaries in September

Furthermore, in a second stage Another 38,061 students belonging to families with an income higher than that included in the call will be able to benefit from free books. These families had applied to enter the program despite exceeding the established income levels. In September, once all the beneficiaries have their material, they will be able to access the copies from the book banks of the educational centers of Castilla y León.
