“The community appropriated the public space,” said Mariano Coria, director of Culture in the town, about the Corner Book Fair and the Corrientes History Congress. He pointed out the importance of neighbors being an active part of these cultural encounters.

“We are living these days with great intensity, to be honest. We are surrounded by the Book Fair and the Congress on the History of the Province of Corrientes that is being held here in Esquina,” he explained.

“This is the first year in which the Fair is seen as a cultural product of Esquina that must be defended. And I believe that the History Congress has also come to crown and provide that structure so that the Book Fair also has that preponderance,” he said.

“The truth is that all cultural facts not only need to be born, there is also another job that has to do with sustaining it and working on it every year so that it continues to grow, because the truth is that what stagnates, that remains still, we know that is dying,” he added.

The Esquina book fair will run until June 30. This will be the 6th edition of the town’s book fair, but it promises to be unique due to its numerous shows and personalities who will be speaking on stage.
