Madrid, April 28 (EFECOM).- Four of the six large Spanish banks, Santander, BBVA, CaixaBank and Unicaja, will close this week the presentation of the quarterly results of the sector, which analysts estimate together at around 6,220 million euros.

These benefits, which would represent a year-on-year increase of 9.2%, already include the extraordinary tax devised by the Government, which the banks account for in the first three months of the year even though they have appealed it, and which does not prevent the accounts from continuing to improve in year-on-year rate thanks to the increase in income.

BBVA will announce its results tomorrow, Monday, before the market opens, which will be around 1,894 million euros, according to the calculations of the analysts collected by EFE, which would be 2.6% higher than that obtained in the same period. of 2023.

On that same day, Unicaja Banco will reveal its data, which would have earned 55 million euros from January to March, 159% more than a year before, making it the entity that would increase its profits the most.

The next day, Tuesday, Banco Santander and CaixaBank will present their accounts. In the case of the group chaired by Ana Botín, analysts expect profits to grow by 9.25%, to 2,809 million, while those of CaixaBank would advance more than 16%, to reach 994 million.

Until now, only Bankinter and Banco Sabadell have published their accounts, which have continued to break profit and income records, which has also influenced them to pay slightly more than last year for the extraordinary rate that taxes income.

Bankinter, which has its new CEO, Gloria Ortiz, reported on April 18 a profit of 200.8 million, 8.7% more and a new record for a first quarter, all after deducting 95 million for the payment of the controversial tax on the sector, compared to 77 million last year.

And this same week, on Thursday, it was the turn of Banco Sabadell, which earned 308 million euros, or 50.4% more, after allocating 192 million to the extraordinary tax, compared to the 157 million paid in 2023. EFECOM
