China remains stable as the world’s fashion manufacturer. The Asian country’s fashion exports reached 65.91 billion dollars during the first three months of 2024, which represents 2% than in the same period of the previous year, according to data from the country’s customs.

This growth includes a 1.4% increase in clothing sales, which rose to 33,816 million dollars. Textile products, which include fabrics, grew by 2.6%, to $32,094 million. Separately, footwear exports reached 11,610 million euros, just two tenths above the figure for the first quarter of the previous year.

Only During the month of March, China exported clothing worth 10,434 million dollars, 17.9% less than in February. This decline is attributed to an altered comparable base during the second month of the year, when supply chain crises and the celebration of the Chinese year drove higher orders.

By geographical areas, The market share of Chinese imports to the United States reached 23%, which represents an increase of 2.2 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2023. In Europe this percentage reached 27.4%, a slight growth of six tenths. In Japan, however, the market share of Chinese goods decreased by 1.6 percentage points, to 47.1%.

During this time, Chinese imports also rose 12.3%until reaching 2,698 million dollars.
