Among the 21 services that customers requested during their stay at the commercial establishment, the price of a gratin arepa for $160,000 caught their attention. The rain of criticism has not stopped, as many consider it enormous.

Doubts have also been raised in other elements of the menu that were paid for by customers: a shot Baileys Whiskey Cream for $90,000, a shot of Jack Daniel’s whiskey for $60,000 and a plate of chicken fingers for $140,000.

This invoice totals 200 thousand reproductions in x, where comments abound on the matter: “Medellín is taking giant steps towards becoming the next Cartagena”; “There is a lot of talk about Cartagena, but little about Medellín in this sense”; “Are we in Barú?”

The Association of Bar Business Owners (Asobares) in Antioquia put a magnifying glass on the complaint and assured that, in the midst of its verifications, this episode is related to a supply and demand exercise aimed at international tourists.

“We understand that the establishment offers its services to foreigners and, in any case, is completely willing to verify that there is a possible irregularity within the account,” said the union’s spokesperson, Juan Pablo Valenzuela.

In addition, he commented that the prices of the restaurant’s products are visible to customers and are shared through different means so that they are within their reach. Despite this, the controversy does not stop on the internet nor the comparisons with Cartagena.

That is one of the big doubts after the episode known in Medellín: “Who controls those prices? More than the prices, how have they not closed a place that suggests a 15% tip?” stated another user on social networks.

In the event of any inconvenience with a price, whose suppliers have the obligation to supply it in a truthful and sufficient manner, consumers can file a complaint with the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce at its hotlines.

“In accordance with the provisions of article 26 of Law 1480 of 2011, the supplier is the one who is obliged to inform the consumer of the sales price of the products offered to the public,” reads a statement from the Superintendency.
