Sling advances in its energy diversification strategy of its vehicle fleet with the start of production at its plant in Ohio, California (United States), of its fuel cell electric car, the CR-V e:FCEV, which is expected to go on sale throughout 2025.

This vehicle will be the first that the Asian brand will produce in its American plant equipped with the propulsion systems of hydrogen and a fuel cell that can also integrate the technology of a hybrid pluggable. The car’s autonomy, according to Honda, will be about 440 kilometers, of which around thirty could be traveled in purely electric mode.

Hydrogen for Honda

Honda’s fuel cell propulsion system is made jointly with General Motors, which promotes greater efficiency and double durability, according to the information provided by both companies. Through the collaboration, the production costs of Honda’s previous system, the Clarity Fuel Cell, are reduced by two thirds.

“Producing a fuel cell electric vehicle with zero emissions is one more step towards Honda’s global goal of achieving carbon neutrality for our products and operations,” said the person in charge of the project, Patrick McIntyre.

Honda shares remain stable in this Thursday’s session, trading at around 1,708 yen (about 10 euros per share), after increasing its capitalization by 14% since January.
