They are designed for hard work, but also for fun. They are the most curious devices that combine robustness, load capacity and power and result in a most interesting vehicle. We talk about SxS or side-by-sidea type of vehicle where the Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic It is postulated as the authentic reference of its category.

The Ranger XP Kinetic is the most recent addition to the brand’s catalogue, available in two versions that are already on sale in European dealerships: Premium and Ultimate. We are talking about a totally electric SxS, that is, a all-terrain utility vehicle (ATV) designed for work that can be used for tasks in the countryside, on farms, on the beach and, why not, also in the city. Pay attention to its features, because you will be surprised to know what it is capable of.

The rear cargo box has a payload capacity of 567 kilos and, although it is a fairly compact vehicle of just 3 meters in length, can tow up to 1,134 kilos. You read correctly, it is not a typo resulting from haste. With these characteristics, it can be used to move trailers on an agricultural/livestock farm, load small bales, sacks, firewood or any other material. By the way, the rear loading drawer has a 12V power socket for external tools.

It has a payload capacity of 567 kilos.

It doesn’t stop there, because the XP Kinetic has multiple accessories and possible customizations. Without going any further, it can be used as a tractor head or as snowplow. To do this, it has a ‘Paddle Mode’ function that automatically lowers the blade when changing to low gears and raises it when engaging reverse gear. It also has a ‘Reverse Drag’ mode to remove snow from buildings. At the other end of possible uses, there are police forces that use this vehicle to patrol by the beach. But it can also be used for walking and having fun on the roads, like someone who drives a motorcycle or a car for pure fun.

Great off-road capabilities and a very powerful engine

And we are looking at an all-terrain electric vehicle with everything that entails: 29″ Pro Armor X-Terrain knobby tires, underbody protection plate, 14 inches of ground clearance and 10 inches of suspension travel -ideal for overcoming obstacles with confidence- and 4×4 traction on demand. That is, normally we will circulate with 4×2 traction, but we will have four-wheel drive when we need it.

All this watered with a lot of power: its electric motor offers 110 HP of power and 189 Nmtwice as much torque as a side-by-side conventional with gasoline engine. Depending on the terrain and the task at hand, you can choose between three driving modes: ECO, Standard and Sport.

Despite its compact size, it can tow up to 1,134 kilos.

It is an electric model, so it’s time to talk about batteries. The Premium trim incorporates a lithium-ion battery with 14.9 kWh capacity that offers an estimated range of 73 kilometers, while the Ultimate trim has two identical batteries and therefore double the capacity: a total of 29.8 kWh to offer a estimated range of 129 kilometers. To recover energy while driving, it has a regenerative braking system.

The XP Kinetic comes standard with a charging socket that allows users to charge from a conventional 230V socket, the same one where you plug in your mobile phone or blender. The Premium trim supports 3 kW of charging power and takes 5 hours for a full charge from 0%. For its part, the Ultimate finish supports 6 kW and can be charged in 10 hours with slow charging or in 5 hours with fast charging. Fast charging requires a three-phase outlet (380V). Optionally, you can choose a charging system that increases the charging power up to 6 kW in the Premium and 9 kW in the Ultimate, which reduces charging times by 50%.

The Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic has 51 liters of interior storage.

Being a vehicle focused on work, a practical cabin cannot be missing. The Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic has 51 liters of interior storage distributed in a compartment under the seats, a double glove box in front of the co-pilot and several cupholders (up to 6, depending on the configuration), as well as pre-drilled holes for lashing rings. In addition to all this, the Ultimate trim adds a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity and front and rear cameras to its standard equipment.

Up to 70% lower maintenance costs

The Polaris XP Kinetic is available in Spain from 39,990 euros before possible aid and discounts. It has a 3-year warranty on the vehicle and electric powertrain and five years of battery coverage.

It has much lower maintenance costs than a similar gasoline vehicle.

According to Polaris, due to the simplicity of its engine and fewer moving parts, maintenance costs are 70% lower compared to a similar gasoline-powered vehicle.
