Those of us of a certain age remember the explosion of television series in the eighties where the main protagonist was a vehicle with supernatural or superheroic abilities. The fantastic car is the first great example, but we do not forget the Street Hawk nor of Airwolfthe sophisticated combat helicopter built to fight crime from the air organized.
Now, coincidence or not, The Czech company UDX has copied the name of the latter for its great project: the UDX Airwolf, an idea for a two-seater flying vehicle. driven by powerful electric motors that can break the tranquility of the skies at more than 200 km/h.
When sportsmanship takes flight
At first glance the UDX Airwolf could be understood, more than like a flying car, like a flying motorcycle since its only two seats sit in tandem under the open skywith a position for pilot and passenger very similar to that of a two-wheeled land vehicle.
A semi-transparent fairing is the only protection for these occupants, which also ends up giving a very aerodynamic bullet shape to the main body of the vehicle. Joined to this by their respective ailerons are four electric motors with a combined power of 430 HP. In addition to accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just over three seconds and reaching a top speed equivalent to 230 km/hthe four encapsulated propellers can also act individually to take off and land vertically or perform maneuvers at the limit.
At the moment, and although it has the advantage of a light weight of only 290 kg, the Airwolf has an approximate flight range of 25 minutes, which is equivalent to about 66 km. Aside from the fact that this figure could improve with future developments, the truth is that We are looking at a recreational vehicle designed for short journeys, for which it would be necessary to have an ultralight flight license or ULM to pilot it.as the company points out.
