Kiabi unites its structure in Spain and Portugal. The French company, specialized in fashion for the whole family at low prices, has announced the “strategic integration of its operations” in Spain and Portugal. From now on, both teams will be led by José Luis Carceller, until now general director of Kiabi in Spain.

As group sources have explained to Modaes, this is an integration of the teams to gain speed in decision-making within the framework of the expansion plan in the Iberian Peninsula. The company will maintain its subsidiaries in Spain and Portugal.

Spain is currently Kiabi’s second market internationally in terms of turnover, which amounted to 210 million euros in 2023, a business to which we must add the business generated in Portugal, where Kiabi has twelve stores (compared to seventy in Spain). Kiabi has operated in Spain since 1993 and in Portugal since 2010.

Kiabi seeks to “maximize operational efficiency” in full expansion plan in Spain and Portugal

“This unification will allow a more effective alignment of the business strategy in both key markets, enhancing the capacity to respond to market demands, favoring the plan to conquer both markets,” the company stated.

The integration of the structures “will not only seek to maximize operational efficiency, but also encourage the development of new ideas and talents in the organization,” explains Kiabi. The move follows the announcement made at the beginning of the year of the creation of a strategic direction for the Spanish marketled by Mercedes Porro.

Kiabi ended 2023 with a turnover of 2,216 million euros worldwide, which represented an increase of 1%. The company, controlled by the Mulliez family, closed 2023 with 606 points of sale in 26 countries, after carrying out 64 openings and landing in two new marketsUruguay and New Caledonia.
